Internships and work placements
Universities and higher education institutions that require their students to undertake internships or work placements during their study courses can request that these be performed at the State Archive of Milan. To this end, specific agreements have been established with the University of Milan and Università Cattolica of Milan. The approval of ASMI is subject to the availability of internal staff to perform tutoring activities and the identification of pertinent activities. The lengths and nature of internships and work placements are established and detailed in the training project produced for each student. Supervised by internal tutors at the Archive, students will perform archiving activities (e.g. the cataloguing of small document collections, small-scale reorganisations).
Voluntary work
Pursuant to art. 55 of Presidential Decree no. 1409 of 30 September 1963, the Ministry of the Interior may authorise persons with the necessary qualifications for a management career at the State Archives to perform free voluntary work. In the event of subsequent employment in a management role at the State Archives, those that have done valuable voluntary work for a continuous timespan of over six months are exempt from undergoing a probationary period.
