The Culture Totem

Supporting the preservation and enhancement of the heritage kept at the State Archive of Milan is now even easier, thanks to a new interactive device—available at the institution—called the "Culture Totem."

The "Culture Totem" allows visitors and users to make a direct donation to support the conservation and promotion activities of the cultural assets preserved by the Archive. This contribution can benefit from the tax reliefs provided by the Art Bonus: for eligible liberal donations, a tax credit equal to 65% of the donated amount is indeed recognized.

Furthermore, the operation is accompanied by a simple and immediate procedure: upon completing the donation, the tax receipt for the liberal contribution is automatically sent to the donor's e-mail address.

 

What is the Art Bonus?

The Art Bonus is a tax relief introduced in 2014 by Article 1 of Decree-Law no. 83/2014 with the aim of encouraging private support for culture through liberal donations. The measure was subsequently made permanent by the 2016 Stability Law, confirming the possibility of benefiting from a 65% tax credit.

The benefit is aimed at both individuals and legal entities who make donations destined for interventions in the culture and entertainment sectors. Sums paid starting from 2014 can therefore entitle the donor to a tax credit corresponding to 65% of the donation made, in accordance with the regulations.

The resources raised through these donations can contribute to various types of interventions: from the maintenance, protection, and restoration of public cultural heritage, to supporting public cultural institutes and sites, as well as opera-symphonic foundations, traditional theaters, and other entertainment bodies provided for by law. The tax relief can also support the creation, restoration, and upgrading of facilities belonging to public entertainment entities and institutions.

 

Culture Totem and Art Bonus at the State Archive of Milan

The State Archive of Milan invites its visitors and users to support, through this new tool, the activities dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the archival heritage. Indeed, every contribution can help fund interventions and projects aimed at protecting the documents kept by the Institute and safeguarding the archival heritage involved in the initiative.

As proof of the donation, the Archive gives the donor a printed certificate and a reproduction of the saved document, accompanied by a description of it. Moreover, the donor's name will be printed on the folder, the container that will be perpetually associated with the document, thus leaving a tangible trace of the contribution offered to its preservation.
