17 March 2022 - Presentation of the book “Le fonti duecentesche per la storia del territorio della provincia di Varese” (“Thirteenth century sources on the history of the province of Varese”)
Much of the history of Varese and its territory in the 13th century is still waiting to be written. For a long time it was generally thought that the sources, without which history cannot be written, were concentrated in just two archives which, though very important, offered just one view of the area, connected for the most part with the real estate interests of the two producer institutions. Based on a study aimed at expanding the panorama of sources, the majority of which preserved in the State Archive of Milan, the book offers an initial overview of the documentary sources, a partial version of the results, and a number of in-depth essays by noted experts.
